3 New Baby Favorites From a New Mom of 3

3 New Baby Favorites From a New Mom of 3

I still remember standing in Babies ‘R Us with my husband when I was pregnant with my first baby, holding a scanner and feeling completely overwhelmed by the sheer amount of baby products lining the aisles while randomly adding the cutest looking ones to our baby registry.

Fast forward five years, and one of the nicest things about having my third baby as opposed to my first is knowing what I really need, and what random crap is just not worth my money or storage space. I went a bit Marie Kondo and purged a bunch of things from my collection this time around (sayonara, mini jetted baby tub!) and thought for sure I wouldn’t have to buy anything else but noticed a few gaps in my baby arsenal. Here are a few new products I discovered this time around:

Baby K'Tan Breeze

 Baby K’Tan Active Wrap

I love the idea of a wrap for teeny babies since a structured carrier just doesn’t seem to hold them as snugly. When I was pregnant with my daughter someone gave me a popular brand of wrap and the first thing I thought when I saw all the yards of sweatshirt-like fabric was “ain’t nobody got time for that” and the second was “this thing is going to be HOT.” Sure enough, even after watching a ton of YouTube tutorials it still took me about ten minutes to get my daughter into the thing, and after wearing her for less than an hour we were both sweaty messes despite the chilly November temps. That wrap was one of the first things to go into my discard pile.

Luckily this Baby K’Tan carrier solved both of my issues. It’s essentially a “wrap without the wrapping”, since the two connected fabric loops make putting it on a cinch, and their Active model is made of breathable, lightweight material that makes wearing my baby a comfortable experience even during the hottest months of the year. This thing has been an absolute lifesaver as I’ve chased my two older kids around parks, splash pads, and pools this summer.

Undercover Mama Nursing Dress

 Go Joonie Carseat Cover

After dealing with fabric carseat covers that didn’t seem to actually cover my carseat so much as create needless bulk and attract dirt and stains, I was intrigued when I saw a photo of the joonie on Instagram. This cover is essentially a sleek camping tent for your carseat. It’s made of lightweight (wipeable!) fabric that fits tightly all around the edge of your carseat, with breathable vents on both sides so you can peek in on your little one without disturbing their carseat slumber. Genius! The Joonie’s design shields your baby from rain or wind, and keeps prying hands away from your little one. It’s ideal for moms that find themselves on the go a lot.

Fridet MomWasher by Fridababy

If you’ve had a vaginal birth, you’re probably pretty familiar with this thing:

Ah, the hospital-issued perineal rinse bottle. Pretty standard, right? Well, in much the same way that they gave the ubiquitous bulb syringe a makeover with the nosefrida, the folks at Fridababy have now made life easier for us recovering moms by replacing this bottle with their new fridet mom washer.

fridet works with gravity, making it so that you don’t have to get your hand anywhere near the rim of the toilet bowl (eww) when using it, and you get a more, ahem, thorough cleansing experience in a fraction of the time. Just trust me on this one and include this bottle in your hospital bag. Your lady parts will thank you later.
