There are so many different breast feeding positions and variations one could loose count. One of our favorite positions is the Biological Nurturing Position demonstrated by our friend, Lindsey Shipley, RN, IBCLC of Lactation Link.
The BIOLOGICAL NURTURING position was developed by Suzanne Colson. It's a very natural and comfortable position for both mom and baby. It is also a great option for women with overactive letdown, as it slows the flow of milk. It is a reclined back position that can be done on a couch, recliner, or bed.
-Use cushions or pillows to ensure comfort and support in a semi-reclined position
-Lay infant/child parallel to your body, tummy-to-tummy
-Infant's legs straddle Mom's leg on the feeding side
-Infant's hands frame the breast, one on each side
-Infant chin buried in the breast
-Ensure a deep latch
